The Mission Explained
What?
How?
What's Your Job?
What caused us to start this mission? The answer is simple. We noticed something: big effective clean ups by major areas and coasts are common and successful, but our suburbs and cities are left out to dry. This is because you simply can't set up an organized clean up in the middle of a mall or in a small area at a park, the only way to reach this trash is through individual effort.
How could we accomplish such a feat? Well, what if there were an Instagram page that documented everyone picking up trash whenever they saw it. This would influence others to do the same in order for them to get posted, their posts would influence others and so on. This would eventually create cleaning cultures within communities in which everyone knows about Pick It Up Mission and can't see trash without picking up!
Your job is simple: spot trash, take a picture, send it to us. We'll post it and tag you after that, and congratulations! You just put yourself out there doing the right thing and now you're going to inspire so many others to do the same.
#Makehelpahabit
It's kind of our motto. We see countless people walk by trash every day yet nobody has 5 seconds to spare picking it up. With an Instagram page to constantly remind them of people picking up, we are sure more and more people will make picking up a part of their daily life, making help a habit.
Our Pick Ups
Pick It Up Mission also proudly hosts clean ups specifically in suburban and city areas. The process is simple: We identify and area with a high density of trash, we post a time and date for the pick up, people show up, and the trash is gone! Our first pick up generated over 30 full bags of trash with 15 volunteers in 2 hours!
